The Joint Liquidators for luxury craft retailer, The New Craftsmen, have just concluded the sale of the brand and its IP to internationally renowned gallery owner Sarah Myerscough and former TNC Product Director Kathy Lacour.

Based in Mayfair London, The New Craftsmen Limited was founded in 2011 and represented over 100 of the UKes finest craftsmen and women. Over its 10 years of trading the company built an international reputation and client base amongst leading interior designers and private clients.

Alex Cadwallader and Neil Bennett from Leonard Curtis were appointed on 9th November 2022 by which time the company had ceased trading, with all 15 employees made redundant, and while The New Craftsmen Limited remains in liquidation, the brand has now been sold on.

Alex commented: We are pleased that a buyer has been found for the brand, one that the original management team worked hard in creating.

The New Craftsmen brand will be relaunched under the dynamic new stewardship of Sarah Myerscough and Managing Director Kathy Lacour who aim to introduce exciting, innovative and authentic crafted collections, synonymous with the ethos and spirit of an established name in the craft world, a name that has always focused on quality of making by British makers. Their promise is to showcase the most exceptional creative collections within the craft market today, as they move forward to a bright new future.

With over 20 years of experience at the forefront of the craft and design industry, Sarah Myerscough represents international artists through an extensive programme of exhibitions and participation in the worldes pre-eminent art, design and craft fairs.

Sarah and Kathy commented: We see an opportunity to relaunch this known brand with a new craft story, one which embraces cutting edge developments in the industry, engages new audiences, and heralds the value and relevance of craft and the handmade in the interior spaces of the twenty first century.

Former Chair and Co-Founder at The New Craftsmen Limited, Mark Henderson, said: It was with great sadness that we had to put the business into liquidation. We had built a brand, a team and an international market, and spent years fighting to make a success of something we passionately believed in. It is heartening to know that the brand will be in such capable hands and I wish Sarah and Kathy every success.

Alex Cadwallader again: It is clear that the company relied on the support of its shareholders and it is unfortunate that profitability could not be achieved under the previous managements tenure, given the intentions of the business.

The new owners are taking orders.
