Sophie Smith is an Associate Director and appointment taker at Leonard Curtis in Guernsey. She is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and takes both voluntary and Court-led appointments in respect of companies and funds incorporated in the Crown Dependencies and the Caribbean. Prior to relocating to Guernsey in 2021, Sophie practised in both the British Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom in restructuring and forensic accounting.
Sophie specialises in complex and contentious restructuring and regulatory assignments, with a focus on international asset recovery and multi-jurisdictional litigation. Sophie has significant experience in the funds wind down space, assisting listed and private funds navigate the complexities, in both natural end-of-life, and illiquid or distressed scenarios.
Sophie is a member of the Association of Insolvency and Recovery Experts and is appointed to the board of the Channel Islands’ branch of the International Women’s Insolvency & Recovery Confederation. Sophie has also been recognised as an Asset Recovery Expert in Lexology’s 2025 Index.
