Mike Dillon and Andrew Poxon from Leonard Curtis were appointed Joint Administrators to Consuma Paper Products Ltd (CPP) on 1st December, securing the sale of the business on the same day to a connected party, which has saved 200 jobs.
The business will now operate as Northwood Consuma Tissue Ltd (NCT) under 100% ownership of shareholders from The Northwood Companies, focused on supplying own brand facial tissues, household towels and toilet paper to some of the UKes biggest grocery retailers.
The Northwood Companies has several market-leading brands in the consumer and AfH (Away from Home) sector, including Rhino Kitchen Towel, Hush, Freedom, Raphael, North Shore and Whisper.
Paul Fecher, Chairman of The Northwood Companies, said the deal would allow for the planned integration of the Birmingham and Grantham-based operations into The Northwood Companies group. It will bring together complementary sites to offer a full portfolio of products. Both sites have state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated professional staff.
Fecher continued: NCT will have the support of Northwoodes local and global certified paper sourcing and access to Northwood manufacturing capabilities enabling it to focus on its core competencies with the backing of dedicated British owners.
He added: We are delighted to welcome to the Northwood family the Directors and staff in Birmingham and Grantham, many of whom are very familiar with Northwood through years of working closely together. It is very much business as usual. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.
