Liz Welch and Conrad Beighton from Leonard Curtis were appointed as Joint Liquidators of Aluna Leisure Limited on 19 February 2026.
The company operated a restaurant and bar at The Mailbox in Birmingham city centre.
The business experienced significant operational disruption due to environmental changes towards the end of 2023, which adversely affected the customer experience. It took more than a year for the underlying issue to be identified and addressed and the prolonged disruption led to a sustained decline in customer numbers and revenue.
Like many hospitality operators, the business also faced mounting financial pressures during 2025, including increases to the National Minimum Wage and employer National Insurance contributions, alongside rising costs for food, drink and utilities.
The combination of operational disruption and sector-wide cost pressures ultimately left the business unable to continue trading.
Liz Welch commented: “It is always sad to see a previously well-loved hospitality business close its doors, particularly one that has been impacted by a combination of operational challenges and wider economic pressures facing the sector.
“Hospitality businesses continue to face significant headwinds, including rising labour costs and ongoing inflationary pressures affecting food, and drink prices.”
Leonard Curtis has extensive experience advising hospitality businesses, regularly working with directors at an early stage to explore options that may help stabilise or restructure operations before a formal process becomes necessary.
