Sale saves 33 jobs at family-owned specialist glass business in Glossop
Mike Dillon and Katy McAndrew from Leonard Curtis were appointed Joint Administrators of Esquire Glass (Manchester) Limited on 27th July 2026, successfully concluding a pre-pack sale on the same day to ESGM Ltd and preserving 33 jobs.
Esquire Glass (Manchester) Ltd, based in Glossop, specialises in decorative glass for the home, providing a range of high-quality products for kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as the caravan and leisure sector. It is a family-run business that has been trading for over 55 years from the same site, employing 33 people.
The company experienced financial difficulties due to post-pandemic inflation, which put considerable pressure on the whole home improvements sector, driving market contraction and sharp increases in the cost of key materials.
This resulted in a decline in turnover, while changes in customer spending also reduced demand and the business was further impacted by the insolvency of a major customer in January this year.
Leonard Curtis were engaged by the Directors to assess options available and subsequently market the business and assets for sale.
A pre-pack sale of the business and assets was concluded by the Joint Administrators on 27th July 2026.
Mike Dillon commented: “This is a highly satisfactory outcome for a long-standing family business that had run into difficulties many of which were not of its own making. The pre-pack sale enables the business to keep trading, safeguard jobs and continue to service its customers.”

The Joint Administrators instructed Cerberus Receivables Management, Cerberus Asset Management and the Landwood Group to help in the sale process. Leonard Curtis Legal assisted with drafting the sale contract.
