Mike Dillon and Katy McAndrew from Leonard Curtis were appointed Joint Administrators to The Caring Company Rutland Limited on 23rd October and successfully concluded a sale on the same day to Smartway Health and Social Care Ltd, protecting 23 jobs.
The business based in Oakham in the East Midlands provides a range of personalised healthcare services in the home, tailored for individuals, including live-in, dementia, respite and palliative care and hospital discharge support.
Financial difficulties began for The Caring Company in April 2026 when the local authority terminated its contract. This resulted in a significant loss of revenue and considerable pressure on cash flow which meant the business was no longer financially sustainable.
Leonard Curtis was instructed to market the business and assets for sale on an ongoing concern basis.
Joint Administrator Mike Dillon from Leonard Curtis commented: “This was a well-established community healthcare provider that had hit a bump in the road. We are delighted to confirm the sale which not only keeps people in jobs, but means there are no interruptions to the important care being provided.”
Tahir Abbas Nisa, the director of Smartway Health and Social Care Ltd, commented “We are delighted to have secured the future of The Caring Company Rutland and to welcome the business into our wider group. The company is now in safe hands, with the stability, resources and long-term support needed to build a sustainable future.
Our immediate priority was to protect jobs and ensure that vulnerable service users continued receiving the care they depend upon without disruption. We are particularly pleased that all 23 jobs have been safeguarded and continuity of care maintained throughout the transition.
We recognise the dedication of the care team, who have continued delivering essential services during a challenging period. As part of a wider group, the business will benefit from shared expertise, stronger operational support and opportunities for future growth.
We look forward to working closely with employees, service users, families and local healthcare partners to strengthen the business, maintain high standards of care and build confidence in its long-term future.”
Leonard Curtis was assisted by Cerberus Asset Management and Cerberus Receivables Management and they were also supported by Rachael Bentley and Rachael Leyden of its in-house legal team, who advised on the transaction.
