Leonard Curtis supported a UK-based infrastructure business in securing long-term stability and future growth through a tailored, multidisciplinary solution. Referred to the Leonard Curtis Gateshead office, the client successfully avoided insolvency the team identified a more strategic alternative, avoiding HMRC enforcement.

An infrastructure and installations company based in London experienced a sudden and significant financial disruption when a large contract was terminated with immediate effect. This abrupt loss of revenue created a substantial cashflow issue and left the company unable to meet its £354,000 HMRC liability. Despite having maintained a clean compliance record up to that point, the unexpected financial shock placed the business under mounting pressure and raised the risk of enforcement action by HMRC.

Upon referral, the Leonard Curtis team led by Joe Douglas engaged swiftly with the company to address the situation. Leveraging the team's specialist knowledge in managing HMRC liabilities, we developed a tailored solution to support the business through this critical period.

We collaborated closely with the company’s directors to gain a full understanding of their financial position and to design a repayment structure suited to their reduced capacity. By presenting a realistic and credible proposal, we were able to initiate a constructive dialogue with HMRC.

As a result, the Leonard Curtis team successfully negotiated a 36-month Time to Pay (TTP) arrangement, agreeing on a manageable monthly repayment of £10,000. This arrangement gave the business the necessary breathing room to stabilise operations and continue trading.

The timely intervention provided the company with the structure and support required to recover from an unforeseen financial setback, allowing it to remain operational while fulfilling its tax obligations in a sustainable manner.
