Sale of Doncaster care home protects jobs and services
Hilary Pascoe and Andrew Knowles from Leonard Curtis who were appointed as Joint Administrators in November 2024, have successfully concluded the sale of St Mary’s Care Home in Doncaster saving 36 jobs and preserving care services for 32 residents.
The sale follows 15 months of trading whilst in Administration. The Joint Administrators instructed Cornerstone Care Solutions to act as clinical consultants who oversaw the day-to-day clinical care at the home.
Following a period of implementing changes at St Mary’s the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating was revised from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ in August 2025.
The change in CQC rating reflected clear and sustained improvements in care quality, governance and overall service delivery.
After a wide-ranging marketing exercise coordinated by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, a sale for an undisclosed sum was achieved to Town Field Care Limited, who will operate St Mary’s alongside its sister home in Leeds.
St Mary’s is registered with the CQC for a maximum of 56 residents and is situated in a sought-after residential area on the outskirts of Doncaster, with panoramic views over the open green land of Town Moor.
Hilary Pascoe commented: “We were confident in the advice of our agents that continuing to trade St Mary’s as a going concern would help us achieve the best value from any sale while maintaining employment for the staff and continued care to the residents.”
