In order to comply with the existing Money Laundering Regulations, many accountants are likely to have obtained a Credit Reference Agency (CRA) type electronic search, which would include PEP and Sanctions checks, to comply with the additional requirements of the Money Laundering Regulations.
Businesses are doing their best to keep up to date with the changing legislation and believe this is sufficient to meet the latest rules – however the problem is that this does not meet the Companies House standard. This insists on the photographic document being verified by Identity Document Validation Technology (IDVT), unless individuals have had specialist training on spotting fakes. Verification of identity with Companies House is starting on 18 November 2025 after which all new submissions will have to be verified first.
The Lifecycle network will be joined by Steve O’Neill from Business Tax Centre on 3rd December 2025, 12pm-1pm providing the Anti-Money Laundering Update 2025 webinar. The session, exclusive to Lifecyle members, will include the latest updates and guidance on AML including what to expect from the changes and how to prepare.
