Background:

A construction company in the North East recently faced financial strain following the exit of a shareholder. This transition triggered a settlement agreement, including a substantial lump sum and ongoing monthly payments.

Challenge:

This sudden and substantial financial burden placed immense pressure on the company’s cash flow, putting its day-to-day operations and future viability at risk. The business pursed a Time to Pay agreement directly but were unable to gain favourable terms.

Solution:

Referred by their accountant, the company engaged Sarah Gray from Leonard Curtis. Understanding the business was viable, Sarah worked with the Leonard Curtis Business Advisory team to find a solution.

Business Advisory Analyst Ben Powell led the engagement. After swiftly assessing the company’s financial position, the team negotiated directly with HMRC to consolidate all outstanding liabilities into a structured Time to Pay (TTP) arrangement. The final agreement restructured the £104,000 debt into manageable monthly payments of £1,500 over a 69-month term.

Outcome:

This arrangement provided the company with the breathing room needed to stabilize operations and continue trading.

“Many thanks for your work in enabling this arrangement. It is very much appreciated and will certainly help me sleep better.”
