Joph Young and Conrad Beighton of Leonard Curtis were appointed Joint Administrators of Adam Carpets Limited on 20th March 2025.
The family owners made high quality wool-rich carpet in the town for four generations and in 1982 had switched to tufting technology under the name Adam Carpets Limited.
The Joint Administrators said that tough economic conditions had put immense pressure on the company and it had ceased trading.
They confirmed their focus was now on maximising value for the benefit of creditors. Joph Young commented: “We are actively marketing the business and assets for sale, to include the Company’s former trading premises situated on a 6.5-acre site on the Birmingham Road, Kidderminster.”
On the appointment of administrators, Managing Director Chris Adam said:
“It's with huge sadness for all the people involved that we are announcing Adam Carpets Limited has ceased trading on Thursday 20th March 2025.
“Despite the best efforts of all our colleagues, the current economic environment means that UK consumers simply do not have the confidence in their finances to buy enough of our high-quality wool-rich carpet to make our business viable right now.
“The significant increase in taxes in the government budget last October as well as the April tax increases to come both mean that this situation is getting worse.
“We therefore wish to thank suppliers, colleagues and customers for their support and enthusiasm for what we have made, sold and installed together across the generations and wish them well for the future.”
All 50 employees have been made redundant. Chris Adam again: “We are already assisting them to move forward with their plans for the future.”
Joph Young added: “We will also be engaging an employee rights agent to support employees with their claims.”
