The UK’s leading multi-disciplinary professional services firm has appointed Paul Haworth as Head of Group Compliance.

He joins Leonard Curtis with a 20-year track record in the restructuring and turnaround sector at a key time of growth for the firm and his brief is to ensure robust compliance advisory across the Group to meet the company’s ambitious expansion plans.

Leonard Curtis employs 330 professional services staff across 30 UK and offshore locations, working with SMEs, corporates and their advisers on both distress and non-distress business support strategies.

He will lead an experienced in-house compliance department with a formidable reputation in the insolvency space, working closely with the company’s UK-wide restructuring and turnaround team, as well those in complimentary pillars of expertise in funding, legal and wider business services.

Paul will be asked to build on the high standards of compliance already in place - led by Diane Shovelton - and further develop processes to make them as user-friendly and efficient as possible across the Group.

Paul started his career as a solicitor specialising in insolvency work before moving into corporate recovery and then into strategic technical, risk and compliance roles where he has spent the last 15 years.

He commented: “My experience to date has given me a deep understanding of the range of challenges that IPs and their teams face every day, not least navigating their way through what has become a highly complex compliance landscape.

“Although my focus has been on dealing with insolvency and restructuring compliance issues, these experiences and skills are also relevant to the other pillars within Leonard Curtis.”

On joining the fast-growing business, he said: “I first met people from Leonard Curtis in 2002 and were impressed by their customer-centered energy and skills. It is testament to the brand that many of those experienced professionals are still here. I am delighted to be calling them colleagues now.”

Leonard Curtis CEO Dan Booth commented: “Paul will help our current technical, risk and compliance team meet the challenges associated with a growing headcount and ever-changing regulatory pressures, especially in the financial services sector, where we see opportunity. Paul is hugely respected in his field and already knows this team. He is a great fit for us.”
