Administrators from Leonard Curtis have successfully managed the sale of the business and assets of Gresham Power Electronics Limited to NCE Switchgear, preserving 11 jobs and securing essential services for projects in the marine defence industry.

Stewart Goldsmith and Carl Faulds of Leonard Curtis were appointed Joint Administrators of Gresham Power Electronics Limited, a Salisbury-based manufacturer of power conversion and control solutions, on 2nd May 2025.

The company, operating in defence, aerospace, and industrial sectors, encountered obstacles due to ongoing uncertainty in government procurement schedules and financial struggles at its parent company.

Following a focused marketing period, the Joint Administrators completed the sale to NCE Switchgear, a leading manufacturer of bespoke electrical switchgear based in Glasgow.

The transaction, finalised immediately upon the appointment of the Administrators, safeguards the future of all employees who have transferred to the purchaser, and ensures that ongoing contracts, including critical projects in the marine defence industry, will proceed without disruption.

Stewart Goldsmith commented: “This is a positive outcome for Gresham and its creditors. The sale not only preserves valuable jobs but also ensures the delivery of essential services for projects in the marine defence industry. We are pleased to have worked closely with all parties to achieve this result in a challenging timeframe.”

“We are delighted to welcome Gresham Power into the NCE Switchgear family,” said John Kirkwood, Managing Director of NCE Switchgear. “This acquisition expands our capabilities in defence electronics and is a key part of our strategic growth. By combining Gresham’s advanced power technologies with our bespoke switchgear expertise, we will be able to deliver more comprehensive solutions to our customers.”

Alison Smithson, of Gresham Power Electronics said that everyone was thrilled to have become part of the NCE Switchgear group. She added: “We are proud of our expertise and the products, bespoke solutions and support we offer, and know that now, as part of NCE Switchgear, we will be able to expand and develop these to the benefit of our customers in the UK and around the world. It is an exciting time.”
